H&R coil overs are designed for performance, comfort, and durability using only the best components. For those drivers looking for refined suspension and a little German style, look no further than the diverse range of coil over applications including Street Performance, Premium Performance, RSS Club Sport, and Ultra Low. Learn more about the four kits here: http://www.hrsprings.com/products/coil-overs/.

Each vehicle specific coil over has a fully threaded custom shock that allows for lowering adjustability. Vehicle lowering can be set using easy to adjust threaded locking rings. Adjustable lowering accommodates summer and winter conditions, or snow wheels/tires, and allows you to dial in the perfect ride height that fits your personal style.

H&R coil over kits are available for the following makes: Acura, Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Infinity, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Saab, Scion, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo. To check for a specific application, go here: http://www.hrsprings.com/scripts/appguide.php.

Call us today to order an H&R kit that works for you and your car!

Pfadt Race Engineering
If you have a C5 or C6 Corvette, or a 2010 Camaro, then Pfadt has a coil over kit for you! The Pfadt coil over kits offer a well balanced and well engineered setup for your Corvette or Camaro.

One of the key advantages of these coil over kits is the flexibility with setting ride height. The threaded shock bodies give you the ability to adjust the overall stock length by about 3 inches without sacrificing shock travel and spring pre-load. It’s no problem to maintain stock ride height or slam it nice and low!

We have installed these kits on many cars with great success. Click on your application below to find out more.

Auburn, WA, June 10, 2010—With a mechanical issue in qualifying, and two crashes during the race, TC Motorsports had a tough weekend at the fifth race of the 2010 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) season at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut, May 28-29. The second crash of the race was severe enough to prevent the team from racing the #14 Boss 302R at last weekend’s Continental Tire 150 at the historic Watkins Glen International in New York, and next weekend’s EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

After two practice sessions, Rick Edwards went out to qualify the #14 Boss 302R. On the out lap, the brakes did not work correctly. It turns out that a small brake part had failed as Edwards rolled onto pit lane. However, per the series regulations, the team cannot touch the car after the car is on pit lane and has been presented for qualifying, so the team sat out the rest of the session, qualifying 31st out of 31 cars.

Starting in 31st at the beginning of the 2.5 hour race, Edwards raced his way up to 17th. Towards the end of his stint, Edwards got spun and put into a wall at Turn 3. During a long pit stop, the team repaired the damage to the left front of the car, and Ted Anthony, Jr. got behind the wheel. Anthony raced back up to 19th but got spun into a wall at the final, high speed, downhill turn with only 20 minutes to go. The damage was too severe to repair in the pit lane, so Edwards and Anthony finished 25th of 31 cars. Both Edwards and Anthony walked away from their accidents without any injuries.

Unfortunately, the Lime Rock race is the only CTSCC race this season that will not be broadcast on SPEED. For photos of the event, go to ColdTrackDays.com and search for posts tagged with “TC Motorsports.”

The next CTSCC race to be broadcast is the Continental Tire 200 from Watkins Glen International this Sunday, June 13 at 1:00 pm Eastern (10:00 am Pacific) on SPEED.

Wheel Alignment

Have you noticed any of the following while driving any of your vehicles (daily driver, track car, tow vehicle, or race car):

Excessive or uneven tire wear

Vehicle pulls to the left or right

Feeling of looseness or wandering

Steering wheel vibration or shimmy

Steering wheel is not centered when the vehicle is moving straight ahead.

If you answered yes to any of these, you would benefit from having your car’s wheels aligned. With the correct wheel alignment for your car, you’ll get reduced tire wear, better gas mileage, and improved handling.

Our suspension experts use our state-of-the-art Hunter high-definition digital imaging alignment system to configure the optimal settings on your car’s suspension. In fact, Hunter alignment systems are the only alignment systems approved by both BMW and Mercedes.

A 4-wheel competition-grade alignment is $190. For performance and competition cars, add a corner balance for only $190 more. Call us today at 253-887-0500 to schedule your 4-wheel alignment!

Yep, I was that kid; the one that obsessed over his Hot Wheels. The one that at thirteen years old, would wash his dad’s cars purely for the opportunity to move them around the driveway.

Actually, I’m still that kid. I just obsess over bigger, heavier cars now.

Fast forward almost 20 years and a friend who’s Ford dealership was sponsoring an open track day at Pacific Raceways asks me if I want in. I had no idea the path down which an innocent, “sure, why not?” was about to send me. Next thing I knew, I was attending race-driver schools, working corners and crewing for friends at club races. I was hooked. Again, I wanted in. I wanted to race.

While crewing and working corners for sprint races and enduros, I became more familiar with the different racing classes that are popular in my region. I quickly zeroed in on Spec Miata. It’s a great class, the nature of the cars force a focus on driver skill and there are lots of folks to race with. I won’t go too deep into describing the class or car itself, plenty of people have said it better on the Internet already. I will say that Miatas are fairly simple cars, rear-wheel drive, easy to work on, relatively cheap to operate and have amazing support through Mazdaspeed, making them an attractive option for a novice racer.

Enter TC Motorsports. I met Carlo and Jon on a sunny afternoon at their shop. I had my then four-year-old son Nathan in tow, out for a ride in our ‘65 Fastback. I’d seen them at the track, knew of the top-shelf service and fabrication they offered and that they maintained a fleet of rental SM cars and Pro3 BMWs. I stopped by to introduce myself. What I didn’t know was what great people they and the entire team are. Nor did I know that we’d quickly become friends. I’ll never forget how welcoming they were, letting Nate crawl all over their race cars and trailer even though they were trying to pack up for a race in Portland (my boy has the car sickness too, shocking I know).

I chose to build my own car, which in the end is more expensive than buying someone’s completed car. But, our racing budget is limited and slowly chipping away at it was really the only option. This approach is fine; it just takes more time and has the potential to leave you with a car that’s perpetually up on jack stands. It took me about 2 years from purchase of donor car to tech-ready racer. However, thanks to the guidance of Carlo and crew we found creative ways to keep “jack stand-itis” from happening. We segmented stages of the build to align with my budget, like completing just the back half of the cage and spec suspension first which allowed me to take part in track days and driver’s schools. Then when more funds were available, we could finish the cage, other safety items and be off to the races.

May 1, 2010. Jon Ament of TC Motorsports had completed the amazing cage in my car and he, Carlo and Taryn made sure I had everything I needed for my debut in the ICSCC novice-racing program. They even invited me to paddock with them, ensuring my day went smoothly. Finally, I was off to the races!

Getting my car tech’d and the cage stamped by Tom Olsson, the ICSCC steward was an exciting moment for me. Two years of work, planning and obsessing came together. It was legit. This overgrown kid’s 2285-pound Hot Wheel was officially a “race car”, with the papers to prove it. All that was left was to get out there and race against a bunch of other novices with similar levels of adrenaline in their systems.

Oh shit. Now, I’m nervous.

This wasn’t my first time driving the car. Hell, it wasn’t even my first time around Pacific Raceways. I even had very experienced racers paddocked with me, trying (unsuccessfully, I might ad) to convince me I was ready and would do just fine. But my mind raced, faster than any car at the track that day. What had I gotten myself into? Do I have any idea what I’m doing? Will I remember what the flags mean? When do I have to be at pre-grid? Where’s the driver’s meeting, again? How the %&#$ does this HANS work? Should I have slugged an entire bottle of Gatorade? What exactly is IN Gatorade anyway and why does it look like Windex? Did I mention being nervous?

Then I got in the car.

Jon helped me strap in for my first practice session of the day. Somehow, the butterflies went back to the hell from whence they came. I don’t know if Nomex possesses Zen-like qualities, or if clipping in a window net completes some freaky-race-car Feng Shui or what. All I know is, suddenly there was me, the car and nothing else. No nerves, no jitters, and no self doubt. The car was great, it felt good and so did I. Racing fender-to-fender came more natural than I anticipated. I was consistent and steadily improved my lap times throughout practice and qualifying. I ended up posting my fasted lap of the day during the race! I drove heads up and clean. I loved mixing it up with my fellow novice racers, we all did extremely well. When a couple folks did have an off, they reacted correctly and were predictable. I even shook my tail feathers a little exiting Turn 8 during practice. But I regained control, didn’t collect anyone and most important had FUN!

I can’t wait for my next race!

I can’t say enough about Conference (ICSCC), IRDC, it’s volunteers and members or all the amazing people connected to club racing here in the Pacific Northwest. To all you folks that make it happen, thank you. Thank you Carlo, Taryn and Jon of TC Motorsports for all your help and encouragement. I’d also like to thank a few folks in the Spec Miata community that helped me a bunch along the way; Pat Newton, Greg Bush, Jim Boemler and Antonio Garza. Finally and most importantly, a big thanks to my wife Shannon and my kids Nathan and Ava for being so understanding and supportive through all of this, you’re the best!

If you’ve ever considered getting involved with this hobby or sport or whatever you want to call it, do it! Your inner child will thank you.

Brian Benthin

Auburn, WA, April 30, 2010—After leading the race after the first round of pit stops, TC Motorsports drivers Ted Anthony, Jr. and Rick Edwards finished 15th in the Bosch 200 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) on Saturday, April 24, 2010. It is the best finish for the team in its fourth ever CTSCC start.

The 15th place finish is a vast improvement from the previous race just two weeks prior at Barber Motorsports Park in which the team finished 30th after completing only one green flag lap. Both the front and rear ends of the #14 Boss 302R needed to be repaired as a result of the damage sustained during the multi-car restart incident at Barber. With the help of Ford Racing, TC Motorsports repaired the damaged Boss 302R in the week between the two races.

This event was the team and drivers’ first visit to picturesque VIR. The drivers finished 22nd and 9th in the two practice sessions, respectively, and Edwards qualified the car 25th out of 28 cars in the Grand Sport (GS) class.

At the start of the 2.5 hour race, Edwards drove smart and stayed clear of the typical first lap rubbing and bumping. During his stint, he raced from 28th to 14th. During the second yellow flag period of the race, Edwards pitted from 14th for tires, fuel, and to install Anthony in the car. Anthony rejoined the race in 21st.

Anthony then raced his way into the top five, running in 2nd for a number of laps and then as high as 1st. An off-track excursion while leading the race dropped Anthony to 6th. The team brought Anthony in for tires and fuel and rejoined the race in 18th and finished 15th.

Team Principal Carlo Sparacio said, “First of all, a big thanks to Ford Racing for helping us repair the #14 Boss 302R after the car was damaged at Barber. After our disappointing race at Barber, we’re happy to have a solid finish at VIR. During our second stop we put on four new tires, which cost us a better finishing position. The Boss seems to wear through tires more than we’d like, so we’re working towards getting the tire wear figured out and having an even better race at Lime Rock.” The next CTSCC race is Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

Auburn, WA, April 16, 2010—TC Motorsports finished 30th after completing only one green flag lap in the #14 Boss 302R after a multi-car incident during a restart at last weekend’s Barber 200 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The 30th place finish for Ted Anthony, Jr. and Rick Edwards is a major disappointment to the team, which has been improving its finishes since making its debut in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) in January; the team finished 31st and 19th in the first two races of the season, respectively.

The drivers and car showed speed from the very first practice session of the event, where they finished 7th. During subsequent practice sessions, the team worked through some engine cooling issues with the #14 Boss 302R. This type of work was not surprising given that the Barber event was only the team’s second race with the car. Once all of the bugs were worked out, Edwards showed a solid qualifying performance by setting his personal best lap time to put the #14 Boss 302R 17th for the start of Saturday’s race.

Team Principal Carlo Sparacio said about the race, “We were really looking forward to this event because we had two wins at this track last year in Mustang Challenge. The drivers and team are extremely disappointed that our race was cut short due to some bad luck on the first restart of the race. The best we can tell is that someone up front brake checked the field, which created a chain-reaction pileup that took a bunch of good cars out of contention for the race. Right now, our heads are down and we’re working hard to have the car ready for VIR.”

The next CTSCC race is next Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA. Get up to the minute updates and special offers from the team by becoming a fan on Facebook and following the team (@tcmotorsports) on Twitter!

Auburn, WA, March 12, 2010—TC Motorsports continues to improve its finishes in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC). Drivers Ted Anthony, Jr. and Rick Edwards finished 19th in the Homestead 200 at Homestead Miami Speedway on Saturday, March 6, 2010. It was the second race for the team in CTSCC, and the first race for the #14 TC Motorsports Mustang Boss 302R. The 19th place finish is an improvement over the team’s 31st place finish in the first race of the season and the first race for the team in CTSCC.

The team took delivery of the new Boss 302R on March 2 at Carolina Motorsports Park, and had the car on track for the first time two days later at Homestead Miami Speedway. With the team just having two sessions with the car, Edwards qualified the car 22nd out of 33 cars in the Grand Sport (GS) class. After some cars failed post-qualifying technical inspections, the #14 moved up to 18th on the grid.

However, the team was not able to capitalize on its improved grid position because the car was late to grid. So, Edwards started the 2.5 hour at the back of the 33-car GS class. Edwards made the best of the situation, though, racing as high as 10th during his stint. During the second yellow flag period of the race, Edwards pitted from 11th for tires, fuel, and to install Anthony in the car. Anthony rejoined the race in 29th and raced all the way to 4th, keeping pace with the leaders.

The race was a bit of a gamble for the team. Because of the team’s limited amount of time with the new Boss 302R (only a handful of sessions), they had limited data as to how far the car could go on fuel. So, the team decided to roll the dice and see how long they could keep Anthony out on track. As it turns out, Anthony was forced to make one more stop, from 4th, for fuel. He rejoined the race in 19th, which is where he would finish.

Team Principal Carlo Sparacio said, “We’re really happy with the new Boss 302R from Ford Racing. It performed well right out of the box. As with the last race, we are happy with our performance during this race. Both the team and drivers did a great job, so as we get more time with the new car, we’ll get the results we’re looking for.” The next CTSCC race is Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.
