Solid Finish at VIR for TC Motorsports

#14 Boss 302R at VIR

Auburn, WA, April 30, 2010—After leading the race after the first round of pit stops, TC Motorsports drivers Ted Anthony, Jr. and Rick Edwards finished 15th in the Bosch 200 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) on Saturday, April 24, 2010. It is the best finish for the team in its fourth ever CTSCC start.

The 15th place finish is a vast improvement from the previous race just two weeks prior at Barber Motorsports Park in which the team finished 30th after completing only one green flag lap. Both the front and rear ends of the #14 Boss 302R needed to be repaired as a result of the damage sustained during the multi-car restart incident at Barber. With the help of Ford Racing, TC Motorsports repaired the damaged Boss 302R in the week between the two races.

This event was the team and drivers’ first visit to picturesque VIR. The drivers finished 22nd and 9th in the two practice sessions, respectively, and Edwards qualified the car 25th out of 28 cars in the Grand Sport (GS) class.

At the start of the 2.5 hour race, Edwards drove smart and stayed clear of the typical first lap rubbing and bumping. During his stint, he raced from 28th to 14th. During the second yellow flag period of the race, Edwards pitted from 14th for tires, fuel, and to install Anthony in the car. Anthony rejoined the race in 21st.

Anthony then raced his way into the top five, running in 2nd for a number of laps and then as high as 1st. An off-track excursion while leading the race dropped Anthony to 6th. The team brought Anthony in for tires and fuel and rejoined the race in 18th and finished 15th.

Team Principal Carlo Sparacio said, “First of all, a big thanks to Ford Racing for helping us repair the #14 Boss 302R after the car was damaged at Barber. After our disappointing race at Barber, we’re happy to have a solid finish at VIR. During our second stop we put on four new tires, which cost us a better finishing position. The Boss seems to wear through tires more than we’d like, so we’re working towards getting the tire wear figured out and having an even better race at Lime Rock.” The next CTSCC race is Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.
