Auburn, WA, July 22, 2009—TC Motorsports attended the 29th Annual Mustangs Northwest Mustang Roundup and Ford Picnic this past weekend in Bellevue, WA. TC Motorsports promoted the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge (FRMC) and displayed the #9 TC Motorsports FR500S, which is the most successful car in FRMC’s two year history, amassing wins in nearly half (7 out of 16) of all of the races in series history. No other team has recorded the number of wins that TC Motorsports has collected with the #9 car.
“This was a very fun weekend for the team! So many people were interested in the FR500S and the series. We passed out hundreds of FRMC posters and FR500S sales literature, sold FR500S t-shirts, had a raffle for prizes, our drivers signed autographs, and our team members answered a lot of questions for the Mustang enthusiasts in attendance. It was also special to be a part of the Mustang Roundup because our team is based in the Pacific Northwest,” comments Carlo Sparacio, Team Principal of TC Motorsports.
With almost 900 cars in attendance this year, the Mustang Roundup is the “world’s largest annual gathering of Mustangs” with four days of events including an autocross, one day road trip, judged car show, banquet, and the Mustang Roundup and Ford picnic. TC Motorsports’ last FRMC events were Rounds 7 and 8 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, ON, and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH, respectively. The team had mixed results during the June races. At Mosport, Rick Edwards qualified 10th and picked up two positions in the race to finish 8th. Ted Anthony, Jr. had contact early in the race that knocked him from his 2nd place qualifying position to finish 13th. At Mid-Ohio, Anthony again qualified 2nd and drove a flawless race to maintain that position to the finish. Edwards, after qualifying 7th, had a mechanical issue during the race that pushed him back to finish 18th.
Both Anthony and Edwards, who are currently 2nd and 10th in the driver championship, respectively, are hoping for better results at the next FRMC round, which will be this weekend at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. In addition to Anthony and Edwards, a new driver to TC Motorsports, Gunter Schaldach, will step into the #8 FR500S. Schaldach will drive double duty this weekend by also competing in SCCA World Challenge GT in his #9 Viper Competition Coupe.
