TC Motorsports Captures Fourth Podium Finish at Barber Round of Mustang Challenge

Auburn, WA, July 27, 2008—TC Motorsports Team Principle Carlo Sparacio qualified 3rd and finished 3rd in the Barber Motorsports Park round of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series. TC Motorsports driver Rick Edwards moved up from his starting position of 13th to finish 9th, his first top ten finish in Mustang Challenge.

Round #4 of the Mustang Challenge series brought the team to the beautifully manicured and meticulously maintained Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The team had one thing in mind for Barber — to finish on the podium. TC Motorsports has had great results so far with a pole position and win at Road Atlanta, a pole position and win at Mosport, and an outside pole and 2nd place finish at Mid-Ohio. In fact, TC Motorsports is the only team in the Mustang Challenge series that has had a podium finish in every single round of competition, and continues to be the most successful team in the series.

The TC Motorsports team was also honored at the Barber weekend with the Sunoco Setting the Standard Award “after showing teamwork, sportsmanship, and a strong measure of both camaraderie and competitiveness during the Barber Park race weekend.”

After the Mid-Ohio round of the series, TC Motorsports team driver Andrew Caddell retired from the team and now drives for Stable One Racing. Carlo explains, “We are all very happy for Andrew and wish him the best. Our main goal having Andrew with us was to help him get into a new professional series, get his name out in front of a new group of people, and help him find the funding he needs to continue his racing at a professional level. I’m glad we were able to give him a fast car to drive and an experienced team and crew for the first three rounds of the series, and help him achieve the best results possible. Our project was a success as he now has a fully funded ride and a promising future in professional motorsports.”

Commenting on his first Mustang Challenge career podium driving the TC Motorsports/

I have to thank Jon Ament, along with Clint Kieffer and Rob Caddell, for their hard work with the cars and getting the show on the road. I also want to thank Taryn Sparacio for her words of wisdom on the radio as my race engineer, and of course my local Barber driving coach, Sherman Engler, who helped both Rick and me get up to speed on a track that we had never seen before this weekend. Bessie Ament and Micci Edwards took care of our 9-month old daughter, Giulia, at the track, which let Taryn and me stay focused on the job at hand. My teammate Rick gave me some great words of encouragement and helped me keep my eye on the prize. This first podium feels great.”

Rounds #5 and #6 take the team to the recently resurfaced and reconfigured yet historic Lime Rock Park in Connecticut August 16 and the brand new New Jersey Motorsports Park in New Jersey on August 31.
